Charter liability for private skippers
When you charter, the deposit and the liability risk stay with you. For smaller rented sailing and motor boats and for rented watersport equipment such as windsurfing, kitesurfing and wingsurfing gear, surfboards and SUP boards, the VDWS SafetyTool is the straightforward solution.
For chartered sailing and motor yachts there are separate solutions with extended cover, arranged through our colleagues at YACHT-POOL:

- For skippers resident in Austria
- For skippers resident elsewhere in the EU

VDWS SafetyTool
One package for watersport enthusiasts: windsurfing and wingfoiling, stand up paddling, kitesurfing and snowkiting, catamaran and dinghy sailing, surfing, kayaking and canoeing.
SafetyTool, €39 a year (single cover)
The right protection when you rent or charter. Comprehensive cover for your own sports equipment, liability cover for your own equipment and for rented equipment and boats, plus accident insurance.
SafetyTool PLUS, €99 a year (family cover)
Hull and liability cover for owned and for rented material. Comprehensive protection for your own sports equipment including theft and transport damage, and for sports equipment and boats rented for a fee. Liability cover for your own equipment as well as for rented equipment and boats.
The annual fees are set by the VDWS and may change. The scope of cover, the excess and the reimbursement rates follow the policy conditions, which you find in the documents below.
