What the VDWS is

The VDWS, the Association of German Watersport Schools, with its office in Weilheim, organises training and licensing in watersport: windsurfing, wingfoiling, kitesurfing, sailing, stand up paddling, wave riding and kayaking. Schools, centers and instructors all over the world are affiliated to the association, along with the athletes themselves, who obtain their licences through it.

The association's offering includes the SafetyTool, an insurance package of its own for watersport enthusiasts. It covers your own and hired equipment as well as liability while using it. Taking out the policy, renewing it and cancelling it all run directly through your personal Checkpoint area at the VDWS.

What SüdwestRing does in all this

We are the insurance broker behind the concept. That means we negotiated the cover with the insurer, look after it on an ongoing basis and handle every claim. So if something happens to insured equipment, or if you want to report a liability or accident claim, we are your contact, not the association and not the insurer.
